Juneteenth LVA Camp at Waterfront Park

Waterfront Park

Juneteenth LVA Camp at Waterfront Park Location: Waterfront Park Office, David K Karem Building 129 River Rd, Louisville, KY 40202 next to Joe’s Crab Shack (131 River Rd) For the sixth consecutive year, Waterfront Park and Louisville Visual Art will offer a full scholarship camp in the theme of Juneteenth. The week-long summer day camp will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from June 15 to 18. During the camp, students will be introduced to the works and history of Ed Hamilton, Muhammad Ali, and the Underground Railroad while also learning about Juneteenth and Louisville.  Enjoying the Waterfront Park adventure, a riverboat ride on the Mary Miller, a day at the new PlayPort on the wharf and a visit to Roots 101 are all a part of this camp experience.  Explanations of their art will be practiced throughout the week to prepare for their very own celebrational art exhibit at the end of the camp.  The camp will then conclude with a celebration art exhibit where camper’s sculptures, collages and more will be on display. For more information and to learn how to nominate a student, who shows promise in the arts please visit here.
